GDLN World Forum Music: This short musical intro was one of several similar compositions created for the Global Development Learning Network World Forum, held at the World Bank in October 2006. They were created in Pro Tools 7 with the XPand! software synthesizer. Also available: guitar and sitar versions.
Best of B-SPAN: Jeffrey Sachs: Part of the Best of B-SPAN podcast series that I spearheaded at the World Bank, which aims to collect the best presentations given on development at the Bank in a downloadable excerpt form. As with all B-SPAN podcasts, I wrote and recorded the introduction and conclusion voiceover. This presentation was created in Pro Tools 7, and includes self-produced music. Earlier podcasts were assembled in Audacity and Media 100 software.
Africa Good Governance on the Radio Waves: Specifically, this is the program on Civic Participation for Good Governance. It was broadcast in 2006 to all of Africa by digital satellite radio, although the program itself was concentrated on Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya. African content and talent were used extensively for this project. I arranged for Oliver Mtukudzi's music to be licensed from Sheer Music in South Africa. The program was assembled in ProTools 7 from a variety of media. Due to server space considerations, the above link leads to an excerpt, and the full program is available by request. The Africa Good Governance on the Radio Waves homepage at the World Bank Institute is located here.
The Buzz: In 2007, the IFC's Business Enabling Environment Network (BEE Net) came to my unit at the World Bank Institute's Multimedia Center for an e-newsletter project. They wanted to include podcasts of interviews with various staff as a way to build team unity. This is an excerpt from the first episode of that podcast series, nicknamed "The Buzz." I wrote and performed the theme music for this series, using the XPand! synthesizer and a Variax 700 bass guitar, then produced and edited the interviews in Pro Tools 7.
Designing Learning Interventions That Last - Andrew Law: As part of WBI's staff learning program, the Multimedia Center created a two-day face-to-face class on how to design good educational programs. It was accompanied by an e-learning course, which included narrated powerpoints and six podcast interviews with well-known learning experts. This podcast features Andrew Law, Head of BBC Worldwide Interactive Learning, speaking about formats and new media. The conversation was recorded in our studios over the phone, then transferred into Pro Tools LE 7.3, where I edited it, composed the opening and transition themes, wrote and voiced the narration, and compressed it for MP3.
